[edit] What is Google Desktop Search
Google Desktop search is one of Google's many free software applications. They can be downloaded from Google Labs, where all of the beta test applications (on or offline) start out. The desktop search is a tool which allows the user to search his or her computer for files, images, music, emails, and much more. The application is entirely offline, so no internet access is required. The latest version of Google Desktop is Google Desktop 2, released on 8/22/05.

- Google has recently been complaining that Microsoft is exploiting it's monopoly. This is because the Microsoft Desktop Search cannot be switched off which effects the performance of any competing products.
- There is now a Beta version of Desktop Search available for the Linux Operating System
